How We Support Students

Classroom Counseling Lessons

Throughout the year, students participate in classroom counseling lessons designed to build important social-emotional skills that support success in school and beyond.

Topics may include:

  • Growth mindset and goal setting
  • Managing emotions
  • Coping and calming strategies
  • Kindness, empathy, and respect
  • Friendship skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making
  • Conflict resolution
  • Self-confidence and positive self-talk

Small Group Counseling

Some students benefit from additional support in a small group setting where they can learn and practice important skills with their peers.

Small group topics may include:

  • Friendship skills
  • Managing emotions
  • Building confidence
  • Coping with change
  • Social skills
  • Kindness and respect
  • Other identified student needs

Individual Student Support

Our counselors are available to meet individually with students who need additional support. Students may receive assistance with:

  • Friendship or peer concerns
  • Conflict resolution
  • Stress, worry, or managing emotions
  • Changes at home or school
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Problem-solving
  • School adjustment
  • Other social-emotional concerns

Our role is to listen, support, teach strategies, and help students develop the skills they need to be successful. We want every student to know that asking for help is a strength.

Partnering with Families

We believe students are most successful when schools and families work together. If you have questions or concerns about your child's social-emotional well-being, friendships, adjustment to school, or other challenges that may be impacting their success at school, we encourage you to reach out.

We look forward to partnering with you to help every SES student thrive.
